Dear SAY Sí Community, The Fall Semester is just around the corner, and we are extremely excited to have students back after the summer break, re-energizing the studios. We are also looking forward to the return of our annual fundraising event Small Scale Big Impact on September 27. This exhibition and month-long silent auction features some of the region’s most esteemed artists’ unique artworks – all up for auction in support of SAY Sí’s tuition-free creative youth development programs. This year’s event will also shine a spotlight on some of SAY Sí’s biggest supporters and beneficiaries, including: Big Impact Honoree: Butt Rogers Charitable Trust Changemaker Honoree: Chicano Arts Curriculum Project with Kim Bishop, Malena Gonzalez-Cid, and Luis Valderas Alumni Honoree: Vincent Valdez And we have a lot to celebrate! Thanks to supporters like you, SAY Sí had an incredible summer with programs here at SAY Sí and at partner sites. Read our Summer at SAY Sí report to learn more about our programming, including: Studio Intensives making space for 75+ high school students and presenting original works to over 100 community members with a standing-room only performance by students from SAY Sí and Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, made possible with the support from the Butt Rogers Charitable Trust; the City of San Antonio; and 147 individual, foundation, and corporate donors, with additional support for visiting artists from the Texas Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Four Summer Saturdays of free art-making kicked off with our community Block Party sponsored by the San Antonio Area Foundation, H-E-B, Community First Health Plans, and Planned Parenthood South Texas. Partnerships with San Anto Cultural Arts, The AM Project, Maestro Entrepreneurship Center, Radical Registrars, San Antonio River Foundation, Ella Austin Community Center, Empower House, and Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center among others. Workshops that expanded our reach to the Eastside and served nearly 100 children ages 6–13 at Ella Austin Community Center and Empower House through a grant from the San Antonio Area Foundation.
