HOW TO JOIN

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR FALL ENROLLMENT

SAY Sí is a year-round, long-term multidisciplinary creative youth development program for middle and high school students.

Open enrollment is held twice a year – in the spring and fall.

Fees? Students can join SAY Sí at NO COST because of our intensive fundraising efforts and the generosity of our amazing supporters.

Dates and Times:
Monday – Thursday, after school and during the summer. following SAISD calendar

To be eligible to apply, students must meet the following requirements:

Parental/guardian permission
Reliable transportation to and from SAY Sí
Current enrollment in middle school or high school (public, private or home school), grades 6-11
A minimum C average in school
A commitment to:
- Abide by SAY Sí’s in-person COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing a mask
- Good attendance year-round
- Complete all SAY Sí projects in a timely manner
- Act as a positive influence in the studios
- Attend weekly studio sessions and student meetings for high schoolers

Student applicants must meet ALL of the above requirements to be eligible for the SAY Sí program. Following acceptance into the program, incoming student-artists must also fill out a mandatory student Memorandum of Understanding.

How to Apply:

Visit our application page and fill out the SAY Sí Application Form. All applications must be submitted digitally.
SAY Sí staff will review all applicants, and eligible candidates will participate in an interview. SAY Sí will contact eligible candidates to schedule an in-person interview.
Students will be notified of the decision via email and letter after interviews have been completed and all applicants have been reviewed.

After your interview, acceptance or deferral letters will be sent via email. All accepted students and parents will be required to attend a new student/parent orientation in order to officially join SAY Sí. Orientation is MANDATORY.

What to bring during your interview:

Copy of Covid-19 Vaccine card
If you are a Visual Art or WAM Middle School Program candidate, you must bring in examples of recently completed artwork.
If you are a MAS Filmmaking/Photography Program candidate, you must bring in examples of digital art, photography or film work you have recently completed.
If you are an ALAS Theatre Program Candidate, you will be requested to participate in an ALAS Theatre Arts workshop designed to introduce you to the ALAS program. ALAS instructors will then interview the applicant along with their parent/guardian to finalize enrollment.
If you’re a HIVE New Media Program candidate, bring at least one of the following: examples of programs or games coded (that can run on OSX or in the browser), examples of recently completed artwork (digital or otherwise), and/or a sketchbook showing your creative process and interests
Middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

New Student-Artist Application 2023 ALL Studios

Thank you for your interest in joining SAY Sí - please complete the following application thoughtfully. All confidential information must be completed to be eligible for consideration. SAY Sí is able to provide our programming for San Antonio’s creative youth at NO COST to the students because of our intensive fundraising efforts. Foundations and government grants require us to collect information on the students and families we serve. Please take the time to answer the following questions completely and candidly. SAY Sí‘s recruitment process is competitive and interviews/auditions are scheduled based on eligibility and number of open slots. Also, while SAY Sí accepts a diverse array of students from all areas of town, first priority is given to students from lower economic households and from San Antonio’s marginalized communities.

Current Afterschool Hours

For High School Studios: Mondays and Tuesdays, afterschool until 7:30 p.m.
For Middle School Studios (WAM): Wednesdays and Thursdays, afterschool until 7:00 p.m.

Beginning Summer 2022, all classes will be held in-person in order to offer the best arts experience for our students. We strongly encourage all applicants to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 for the safety and health of our families, staff, and community.
